As more and more companies are engaging in social media and producing content the pressure is on for agencies and Social Media practitioners to up their game and create content that is genuinely ‘shareable’
Dan Zarrella (Hubspot’s resident Social Media Scientists – don’t you just love that title?) has recently published his latest research report on what makes a Tweet worth Retweeting.
Here are the quick reference bullet point highlights.
A Retweetable Tweet contains:
- Novelty
- Complex words/Ideas
- Contains Links
- The word ‘You’
- Bit.ly link shortener
- Nouns
- Punctuation (Especially Colons and Periods)
- Content is mainly conceptual (logical and rational thought)
- Social and instrumental (constructive words like build and create) are retweetable. Abstract and sensation words aren’t
- Avoid negative emotions, sensations, swearing and self-reference
- Ideal time slot: 15:00 – 00:00
- Monday and Friday are the best days for Retweeting
- Between 100 and 115 characters
- Use hashtags
