Neil Gaiman has been one of the most influential authors I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. His work on the Sandman and it’s offshoots left a deep impression on me during my formative years.

His inspirational commencement speech at the University of Arts speaks to the creative in all of us. There is so much to take away from his speech, and it’s difficult to pin point one thing that has greater value to the web content profession than the rest. Still, I’ll try:

Near the end he mentions the changes in distribution of work due to the shifts and changes happening in our channels of communication.

“The old rules are crumbling and nobody knows what the new rules are. So make up your own rules.”

Thank you for making your own rules Neil Gaiman, so we can learn from you.
